East Norse Philology has attracted international interest in recent years. A Copenhagen Miscellany presents sixteen articles by researchers not only from Denmark and Sweden, but also Norway, Finland, Germany, Italy and Estonia. Most of the articles are based on conference papers from the Third International Conference for East Norse Philology held at the University of Copenhagen in October 2017. The volume is divided into four sections covering various aspects of the Swedish, Danish and Gutnish medieval languages and literatures — Manuscript Studies, Linguistics Studies, ‘The twain shall meet’ and Transmission and Reception. Newly discovered texts with editions, codicological investigations, linguistic puzzles, studies on the transmission of courtly literature, the use of Latin, Biblical translation, the reception of Gutnish, and the relationship between East and West Norse are all found in this volume.
A Copenhagen Miscellany is the third volume published by Selskab for Østnordisk Filologi · Sällskap för östnordisk filologi, founded in Uppsala in 2013.
