This book “Odense Docklands and Canal” has been written by the Odense City Museums, as part of Odense’s contribution to the Waterfront Communities project. The book not only serves the purpose of explaining the extraordinary history of Odense’s man-made harbour in the middle of the Island of Funen but also tells the story of Odense’s historic connections – via the seaways – to many European ports around the North Sea - including many of our project partners.
Furthermore, it is our hope that the book’s re-discovery of the trans-national importance of our harbour history can inspire others to include this dimension in future redevelopment plans.
