Rene Ejbye Pedersen holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History and Social Science and a Master of Arts (MA) in History from Aarhus University. He obtained a PhD-degree after defending the present doctoral thesis on 6 August 2014. His PhD fellowship at the Department of Border Region Studies (University of Southern Denmark) was part of a European collaborative project under the European Science Foundation's EuroCoreCode programme. It was partially funded by the Danish Council for Independent Research. The title of the project is '(Un)familiarity as Signs of European Times: scrutinizing historical representations of otherness and contemporary daily practices in border regions'.
